The Baton Rouge Flood
The Baton Rouge flood has been called the worst natural disaster in the United States since Hurricane Sandy in 2012, claiming the lives of 13 people while displacing approximately 100,000 and costing several billion.
A few of our Baton Rouge team members had homes that were flooded and nearly everyone in our office has a friend or relative who was affected. As always, our great state and city have rallied together to begin the long road to recovery. Louisiana is known for quite a few things like our amazing food, great football teams (GEAUX TIGERS … WHO DAT!), but most importantly we are known for our spirit.

Glen Oaks Park Elementary
Our SVN team members have been working alongside the rest of our city to help rebuild what was lost. We are proud to say that everyone in our office has had a hand in the recovery of Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas. In addition to our ongoing efforts of gutting homes, delivering supplies, meals and sponsoring benefits, we at SVN|GLL have decided to adopt a local school whose student body has been devastated by the flood.
While student homes and schools are being rebuilt, we want to help the parents and children gain some sense of normalcy as quickly as possible by providing them with much needed school supplies. To that end, we have decided to adopt Glen Oaks Park Elementary to help the teachers and children get back to the classroom with the tools and materials that they need.
Glen Oaks Park is an inner city school with more than 600 students and serves many “at risk” children in our community. The school took on more than five feet of water in the recent flooding and every classroom, library and other space was affected. The school has been temporarily relocated to an antiquated and outdated structure and has had to start over with very few supplies.
Support Glen Oaks
We are asking for help getting our community back on track. The foundation of education is key to success. That said, we want to provide these school children with the basic supplies they need in order to resume their education as many of them cope with the loss of everything they once knew.
Below you’ll find a button with a link to an Amazon “Wish List” provided by the faculty at Glen Oaks Park Elementary. By purchasing these school supplies, you will be sending your love and support directly to many children who lost their home, school and school supplies to the recent flooding.
Together as a community of leaders, we can help these children and their school get back on their feet. We at SVN|GLL along with Glen Oaks Parkway Elementary thank you for your help in our efforts to rebuild.
